About the Company
This physician-led, life sciences company provides urgent medical care and health care to patients and employees as an alternative to emergency care. The company is dedicated to providing high quality care as quickly as possible.
The Business Challenges
The life sciences company required a Disaster Recovery solution for its new data center and needed help in both designing and implementing the solution to incorporate its regulatory requirements, while maintaining the ability to be agile and elastic with AWS technologies.
The 2nd Watch Solution
2nd Watch professional services performed exhaustive information gathering and discovery of the current environment, including systems/application architecture, storage/database configuration, and Disaster Recovery requirements.
Based on findings, security evaluation, and discussions with the company’s IT team, 2nd Watch created a high level design and detailed level design of a recommended AWS architecture. Along with core AWS components like VPC, EC2, RDS and S3, the company wanted to utilize AWS Direct Connect for dedicated high speed access to AWS. It was also important to design a flexible storage solution that included archiving.
After several weeks of collaboration with the company, the final design was approved to include Amazon VPCs, several highly available EC2 instances, RDS MySQL instances, ELBs, S3, a Storage Gateway in gateway-stored mode, Glacier, and Direct Connect. 2nd Watch provided a detailed as-built document in order for the company to implement the new solution.
The Business Benefits
With 2nd Watch consulting, the life sciences company now has the ability to build a new DR solution that will satisfy regulatory requirements while maintaining the agility and elasticity of the AWS environment.
