Chief Executive Officer
For over 20 years, Doug has been leading, building, and scaling fast-paced companies that offer technology-based services to diverse business markets. At 2nd Watch, he guides strategic direction and ensures that resources are aligned to both capture market growth and deliver exceptional services.
Most recently, Doug was EVP and GM at Melbourne IT, a publicly held Australian web services company, where he helped transform a $75 million international hosting business. Before Melbourne IT, Doug was CEO of Transaction Wireless and played a fundamental role in shepherding the company’s overall strategy, cloud platform, and market development, greatly enhancing its growth and service levels with major national retailers. He’s also been CEO at AllCall (sold to Nextel), Colorado Internet Services (acquired by Verio), and Genea (an innovative SaaS company recognized by Forbes as one of America’s “Most Promising Companies”). Doug also served as a president at Verio, where he led the initial entry into enterprise-level managed hosting that helped grow the company’s web services business to $160 million in revenue with over 800 employees. While at Verio, Doug helped take the company public, with an eventual sale to NTT Communications for over $5 billion.
Doug has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UC Davis and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.
Chief Technology Officer & Co-Founder
Kris is Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Co-Founder of 2nd Watch. He oversees strategic and technical development of 2nd Watch’s cloud-based products and solutions.
Prior to co-founding 2nd Watch in 2010, Kris held many top IT positions with companies including Microsoft and Ambassadors Group. As the CIO for Ambassadors Group (EPAX), Kris spearheaded the replacement of the company’s legacy ERP platform and implemented a business-first CRM system as part of a strategic overhaul of Ambassador’s IT infrastructure. As a member of the core executive team, he helped drive strategic partnerships and advised on M&A. As Microsoft’s Director of Sales, Marketing and Services Infrastructure, Kris managed content and communications tools for the company’s 60,000+ global Sales, Marketing, and Services workforce. During his tenure at Microsoft, Kris received several awards and accolades, including two divisional “Field Productivity” awards and a Circle of Excellence award (top 1% of Microsoft). In addition, Kris owned his own consulting business specializing in system architecture, database design, and software development. His clients included Onyx Software, Ascent Partners, National Flood Services, and Microsoft Corporation.
EVP, Strategic Business Development and Marketing and Co-founder
Jeff has over 20 years of experience in business management operations, business development, product management, P&L management, and sales and marketing management. In his role as Executive Vice President of Strategic Business Development and Marketing at 2nd Watch, Jeff is responsible for the company’s global strategic initiatives, including strategic partnerships, business development, M&A, and opening new markets, as well as marketing strategy.
Prior to co-founding 2nd Watch, Jeff was running a $200 million P&L for Ambassadors Group (EPAX), where he provided executive leadership and results that increased revenue and margin through a treacherous economic environment. He was also responsible for customer experience and operations of global delivery. Prior to joining Ambassadors Group, Jeff lived and worked in Taiwan as a consultant. Prior to being an expatriate, Jeff held a number of roles in a regional finance company.
Jeff has a Master’s of International Management and a BA from Whitworth University. He enjoys time with his family outdoors, and as often as he can he finds time to fly fish, golf, ski, and run.
Executive Vice President, Software
Joel is the EVP of Software at 2nd Watch and he oversees all product development.
Prior to 2nd Watch, Joel was the Chief Technology Officer at Lightspeed Research, a global market research company and subsidiary of WPP/Kantar. Joel has also been the CTO of GMI, which was acquired by Lightspeed in 2011. Additionally, he served as general manager for AWS Simple Queue Service (2007–2009), as well as holding several technical leadership positions at Microsoft and Attachmate. In between large company roles, Joel has founded software companies such as TransLink Software, which was acquired by Active Software/webMethods in 2000. Joel studied computer science at Shippensburg University and holds patents for network bandwidth estimation, profiling devices on wireless networks, and mainframe integration technology. Joel also has a patent pending for Social Networking Market Research.
Executive Vice President, Services
As EVP of Services, Keith is responsible for Professional Services and Managed Services. Keith ensures that 2nd Watch brings the perfect mix of people, programs, and tools to ensure our clients get maximum value from their cloud investment.
Keith began his career at Accenture, where he worked his way up from Staff Consultant to Senior Partner. In 1994, he founded Accenture’s highly successful partnership with Siebel Systems. Under Keith’s leadership, Accenture’s Siebel practice grew to 1,000 professionals and $400M in annual sales in 6 years. Carlson left Accenture to pursue a passion for building high-growth technology companies. His record of accomplishment includes six successful technology companies—Traiana, Mercury Interactive, Kintana, DigitalThink, Innotas, and MarkLogic—and he most recently served as CEO of Growth Stage Partners.
Carlson has a BS in Industrial Engineering from California Polytechnic State University.
Vice President of Sales
Mike has over 23 years of global enterprise experience, helping build world-class teams in turnaround situations. In his role as Vice President of Sales at 2nd Watch, Mike is responsible for global sales, sales operations, and customer account management.
Prior to joining 2nd Watch, Mike spent thirteen years at Microsoft, where he held a number of different roles from Technology Strategist to managing the company’s Capital Markets Business and Enterprise Partner Channel for the East Region. Mike’s teams were widely viewed as high performing, growing their business by double digits every year during his tenure. Mike was part of Microsoft’s prestigious Leadership Development program for a number of years, which helped develop and mold his leadership style. Mike has held management positions at Warner Lambert, Solomon Brothers, and Alliance Capital.
Mike holds a BS in Accounting from Rutgers University, and a Master’s of Information Systems and an MBA with a concentration in Finance from Seton Hall University. Mike also holds certifications in both Six Sigma and ITIL.
