Managing Director, Madrona Venture GroupMatt McIlwain has been a member of the 2nd Watch Board of Directors since 2014. At Madrona, he focuses on a broad range of software-driven companies and has previously sat on the board of many successful companies including iConclude (acquired by Opsware), Performant (acquired by Mercury Interactive), and World Wide Packets (acquired by Ciena) and continues to serve on the board of Isilon (NASDAQ: ISLN). Matt is a board member of the Washington Technology Industry Association, the Villa Academy, serves on Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna’s Technology Advisory Board, and serves on the advisory board of Families Northwest. Matt is a graduate of Dartmouth College and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
Partner, Columbia CapitalJason has been a member of the 2nd Watch Board of Directors since 2013. At Columbia Capital, Jason focuses on investments in the Internet Infrastructure and Enterprise IT Services sectors. Jason currently serves on the Boards of 2nd Watch, Cloud Sherpas, SIG Inc, and Terrapact, and he is also involved in the firm’s investments in euNetworks Group Ltd and Endgame Systems. He is connected to Columbia’s past investments in Zayo, GTS CE, and Envysion. Prior to Columbia Capital, Jason made technology and services investments with Centennial Ventures and spent time at Level 3 Communications and QualNet in product management roles. Jason received a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Northwestern University and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management.
CEO, 2nd WatchDoug is CEO of 2nd Watch and has been leading, building, and scaling fast-paced companies that offer technology-based services to diverse business markets for over 20 years. Previously, Doug was EVP and GM at Melbourne IT, where he helped transform a $75 million international hosting business. Doug was also CEO of Transaction Wireless, AllCall (sold to Nextel), Colorado Internet Services (acquired by Verio), and Genea. While at Verio, Doug helped take the company public, with an eventual sale to NTT Communications for over $5 billion. Doug has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UC Davis and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.
Former CEO, VerioJustin Jaschke is a former internet and telecom executive who founded Verio, a leading global ISP and hosting company, and served as its CEO and Director until 2004 following the company’s 2000 acquisition by Japan’s NTT Communications. Previously, Justin served as president of OneComm Corporation (which later merged with Nextel Communications) and as COO of Nextel, along with executive roles at other major wireless carriers. Justin serves on the boards of Lytx, Extenet Systems and the Denver School of Science and Technology.
CTO, 2nd WatchKris is Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Co-Founder of 2nd Watch. Previously, Kris held top IT positions with companies including Microsoft and Ambassadors Group (EPAX). As a member of the core executive team at Ambassadors Group, Kris helped drive strategic partnerships and advised on M&A. During his tenure at Microsoft, Kris received several awards and accolades, including two divisional “Field Productivity” awards and a Circle of Excellence award (top 1% of Microsoft). Kris has also owned his own consulting business specializing in system architecture, database design, and software development, whose clients included Onyx Software, Ascent Partners, National Flood Services, and Microsoft Corporation.
